Previcox is a Cox-2 non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication used in dogs for the relief of pain and inflammation due to osteoarthritis. It may also be used for purposes other than those listed here. Previcox works by reducing substances that cause pain, inflammation, and fever in the body. Previcox requires a prescription from your veterinarian. Previcox works by inhibiting the COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) enzyme which generates chemicals that are responsible for pain, inflammation and even fever in the body.

Other less serious side effects may occur. Continue giving Previcox and talk to your veterinarian if your pet experiences flatulence or diarrhea; dizziness, headache, or insomnia. | 1. Previcox is a prescription medication that is FDA approved for use in dogs 7 weeks of age or older. It is available as 57 mg and 227 mg chewable, scored tablets. Contact the veterinarian if the pet has hives, or an allergic reaction after taking sulfa-based medications such as SMZ/TMP, aspirin or another NSAID such as Rimadyl.
