2. Drontal’s active ingredients are praziquantel, pyrantel pamoate, and febantel. Praziquantel works by damaging the parasite’s skin internally, so the parasite disintegrates and is removed by the pet’s immune system. Pyrantel pamoate is active against hookworms and ascarids and acts as a blocking agent, causing paralysis. This results in the hookworm losing its grip in the intestinal wall and is removed from the pet’s system by natural process.

3. Drontal tablets can be crushed and mixed in with food for easy feeding. For cats between 1.5-1.9 lbs, give 1/4 of a tablet. Between 2-3 lbs, give 1/2 of a tablet. For cats between 4-8 lbs, give 1 tablet. Between 9-12 lbs, give 1.5 tablets. For cats between 13-16 lbs, give 2 tablets. 

4. Side effects are rare, but may include loss of appetite, increased salivation, vomiting and diarrhea. Other side effects may also occur. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet. Drontal tablets are not for use in kittens less than one month old or weighing less than 1.5 pounds.
