Drontal Plus is a broad-spectrum dewormer used in dogs to treat tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. The active ingredients are praziquantel, pyrantel pamoate and febantel. Praziquantel works by damaging the parasite’s skin internally, so the parasite disintegrates and is removed by your pet’s immune system. Pyrantel pamoate is active against hookworms and ascarids and acts as a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, causing sudden contraction, followed by paralysis. This results in the hookworm losing its grip in the intestinal wall and is removed from your pet’s system by the natural process. Febantel is active against nematode parasites, including whipworms. Drontal Plus is sold per tablet and requires a prescription.

INSTRUCTIONS

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Tablets may be mixed with food. Fasting is neither necessary nor recommended. Because humans can contract tapeworm from animals, it is important to take strict hygienic precautions. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and the household and not to feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily clean up of stools is recommended. For dogs between 2-4 lbs, give 1/2 of a tablet as a single dose. Between 5-7 lbs, give 1 tablet as a single dose. For dogs between 8-12 lbs, give 1.5 tablets as a single dose. For dogs between 13-18 lbs, give 2 tablets as a single dose. Between 19-25 lbs, give 2.5 tablets as a single dose. For dogs between 26-30 lbs, give 1 tablet as a single dose. Between 31-44 lbs, give 1.5 tablets as a single dose. For dogs between 45-60 lbs, give 2 tablets as a single dose. Between 61-90 lbs, give 1.5 tablets as a single dose. For dogs between 91-120 lbs, give 2 tablets as a single dose.
